I would like to take a minute of your time to introduce myself to you and describe an important journey that I am starting in Thunder Bay on April 12, 2012.
Firstly, I would like to describe a little about myself. I am a former Olympic boxer, who has previously taken part in the 92 Barcelona, 96 Atlantaand 2000 Sydney Olympics. I have always been very passionate about helping children who are afflicted with daunting health issues. In August of last year, I coordinated the first ever “Heater’s Heroes”, a one day charity event in NiagaraFalls that raised over $25 000 for children associated with the Tender Wish Foundation.
From my charitable work, I have met many children who are suffering from some form of cancer, and recognize that we, as individuals, are impacted more and more each day by someone we know and love who is fighting this disease. One of these children is Matthew Mancini, who recently lost his leg to cancer. Recognizing this, I want to do something that benefits cancer reasearch.
To accomplish this, on April 12, 2012, I will be running across Canada starting in Thunder Bay to help raise cancer awarness. Matteo will be joining to help raise cancer awareness and be an inspiration for other children suffering from this disease.
